I arrived at 4 PM, to find Jim Kimball and John & Maria already there.
After setting up, a few more guests of Kye's showed up including people
from Archbold. The sky was clear and it got cold as the evening went on.
(My scope at around 12:30am was showing temperatures at 36 degrees). We
were lucky there was no wind, or it would be much colder.
While Jim and John were imaging, I was doing what I like best, and that
is giving a tour of the sky to 5 or 6 people around my LX200. I showed
all the Red stars I could (SCephi, RLepus, and of course my Red and Blue
Star in Cass which is still unnamed) and lots of other goodies, including
the Owl nebula, M81 & 82, the double cluster and lots more objects.
Earlier in the evening, we're all were thrilled with Venus and the Moon
right next to each other. (lots of pictures were taken).
We stayed up probably until 1:30 and were all tied and cold. (but it was
a fantastic night). Our hostess Kye, provided us with lots of coffee,
donuts and hot soup was courtesy of Maria Clifton and electricity was a
vital necessity for my electric blanket.
