WSP - February, 2008

Attended WSP 2008 in February. The weather was little better than 2007.

1)M83- Luminance channel only.

Also called "Southern Pinwheel." Real challenge even in South ,FL. as it lies DEC -30 in Hydra. Area of interest for astronomers due to larger than expected supernovas observed in this galaxy (4 past 80 yrs.)

2)Leo Trio

3)Thor's Helmet(NGC 2359)- added more info in RGB to older photo. about 30 light yrs across. The massive blue giant in "Bubble" near center is a "Wolf-Rayet Star. These stars are though to be near the end of there life. They extrude large amounts of gas at super high speeds, and is probably the cause of this nebulas unusual shape.
