ANOTHER FLARE CAPTURE – JOE IANNI

The photo was taken on an
iPhone 5S mounted on a
simple camera tripod and
using an app called NightCap
Pro. The app has several
astronomy-related predefined
settings. The one I used is
called ‘ISS Mode’. I used
heavens-above.com to get the
exact path and timing of the
flare. From there all I did was
aim the camera, click the
shutter just as the flare
appeared, then click it again
after it had faded. It ended up
being a 35 second exposure.
